Productivity Tips When Traveling

Productivity Tips When Traveling

Productivity Tips When Traveling

Managing your time when you have a yearly calendar loaded with travel is not a simple thing to do. Based from my own experience of a busy travel laptop lifestyle running my digital business and attending events around the world, here are some tips to keep you on schedule despite being away from home (even if you are working off your laptop):
1. Hire Well
Before you go away there are a number of tasks that must be done or prioritized before you can focus on your a trip or vacation, you must entrust work to someone that can efficiently do it. Here are several points to consider in hiring someone that may continue your work while you are away (or utilising an outsourcing team):
  1. Write down a list of tasks so you know what type of candidate your after, you may need more than one person to do your tasks – its rare that the one person would have all the skills you need to complete all task required of your business.
  2. Interview candidates extensively and check references
  3. It’s essential to test the skills your hiring for, set example exercises to filter candidates. What you are looking for is that the task completed is accurate and more importantly returned in a timely manner.
  4. Can the candidate work un-supervised?
It’s hard to delegate tasks to a new staff member but like any new staff there will need to be training involved first. Use free software like Jing to show the staff member what they need to do to complete the task this is handy if they are lost they can easily replay your video. Reporting to you daily showing that they have completed your task will result in trusting them with more work until you are at a stage where you can build up to a weeks work at a time. When you are traveling ensure that you login in daily just to check progress and give feedback.
2. Trust Others
Trust is something that is built over time. Always praise on a job that is well done and encourage them to give you feedback on a task if they have other ideas they would like to input which sometimes you may not of thought of. Start building trust slowly and you will be rewarded with a loyal staff member.
3. Use Travel Time Wisely
For the times that you can’t hand over a job to individuals in the workplace while you travel, here are suggestions on what you could do to remain on top of things:
  1. When standing in line at the airport, you could take out a notepad and think of new business suggestions or take notes about essential company issues.
  2. Instead of viewing the in-flight entertainment, you may use this time to work on your laptop. The good idea about flights is that you won’t be disrupted by the workplace telephone or any of your associates.
  3. Utilize any travel commute to perfect larger presentations.
  4. Recreate an Office Environment whenever possible.
When you’re staying in a hotel, arranging your laptop and documents similar to your office setup may help. Instead of treating the hotel as an area of recreation, consider it as an area of “work-away-from-work.” Replicating an office setup will help you participate in work much better.
Final Thoughts;
Working on many tasks is still possible while traveling. Nevertheless, it’s best to do the less important ones to raise productivity. For instance, you can leave tasks like non-urgent emails for flights and so that your office time will be focused on critical business matters.
Life hack reports that keeping e-mail programs open is disruptive to efficiency. Instead, checking e-mails five or six times a day will help you deal with them appropriately. So, either save those tiring e-mails for your travels or examine them occasionally throughout a typical working day. Better still have staff set up email folders so that you will have emails sorted and to look at when you are ready.

Food Allergies As Holiday Frustration?

Imagine you arrive at your holiday destination you have been looking forward to for months and on day 1 you are confronted with food allergies and food intolerances in your family.
Those nasty unexpected things like food allergies that can screw up your idea of the perfect start of you well earned quality family time. I use the word idea purposely. Because I found out it that is just what it was. In our mind we make up that vacation has to be perfect, but vacation is like any other day in life. You have to take care of the most important things in life first. And well if you have food allergies and intolerances popping up that’s kind of in the category urgent.

So we, the Dutch Nomad Family, arrived in our home country after 24 hours of traveling that it took us from Bali. Within 48 hours Thijs started showed symptoms of food allergies, which affected his skin and caused itchy eyes.

We already know cheese is a no go for us. Can you imagine this being the case for a Dutch Vegetarian! But as with everything, you do get used to it and at some point the joy of eating this Golden Delicacy doesn’t match the negative effects on your body.

So after only 2 days of leaving our home in Bali Thijs started developing a rash around his mouth, which over the next 2 days spread all over his face and later his arms and legs. While dealing with ignoring a jet-lag, the cold, catching up with friends and keeping a business running, my fogged mind and off balanced body where working hard on observing food intake and comparing it to Thijs’ normal diet.

It may not be a surprise that the big change was the amount of candy, ice cream, bread with “hagelslag” and “beschuit with muisjes”. My kids do get candy, ice cream and bread back in Bali, but that would be in the form of an organic fruit lollipop, energy balls, sugar free candy, 80% dark chocolate, 1 slice of sourdough or black rice bread with almond butter and occasionally a vegan ice cream.

When I got to this point of realisation it became simple, but also hard. Why hard? As I said earlier it takes some time to get into a rhythm a again and than you have to deal with an issue on top of kids wanting to play, eat and enjoy the stuff they don’t normally have. However, something being a challenge has never been an excuse. So I talk to friends, share on Facebook and start finding places I can buy gluten free foods.

I just want to take time here for a sec to sympathise with all moms who have gone through this and are confronted everyday with food allergies and related issues. I’m proud of you that you found your way through all the food labels that almost always says traces of gluten, nuts and seeds. Unbelievable even in the organic health shop this disclaimer is on the oats!

As you I found my way through all the labels and found gluten free products. So I bought gluten free breads, crackers, vegan cheeses and spreads. Stocked up on fruit and raw vegetables suitable as snack and felt ready to start our road trip. I also started using TripAdvisor to look for Vegan Restaurants. This actually has brought us to some awesome unexpected places during our explorations and has made us meet lovely like-minded and inspiring people.

Having our travel food supply in order I realised I needed to do something about the symptoms of Thijs his rash as well, so I got a prescription from the doctor.

Parallel I search in the awesome database of Integrative Nutrition (my health and lifestyle tribe), watched a module on food and simple preparation by Joshua Rosenthal. Totally inspired by his “simple cooking” approach I feel empowered to pull this of during traveling as well. Grateful for the reminder of letting the kids help me with food preparations I get the feeling this food challenge it’s becoming a family effort and joyful experience instead of a weight on my shoulder.

A little side track confession from my side: it always surprises me how I can forget my normal patterns so easily when I board a plane and get into traveling mode.

A week into our travels I can now say that the frustration I felt in the beginning has developed to accepting and surrendering to the circumstances. As strange as it may sound it turns out Thijs his allergy actually gives me the opportunity to gather new experiences and connect to people on the subject I love most in life: the relation between health and lifestyle and the role of food in that.

I feel here lies one of my biggest tasks as a mom, educating my kids on food and the effect on it on their body. Unexpectedly this subject has become a part of our holiday itinerary, but as we love exploring, this will for sure provide us with new fun nomadic experiences.

As we were in Paris, I made Thijs and Isis aware on how they feel after they consume some of the local food. And believe me, they have to think hard when I ask them to put the pleasure of eating a croissant in perspective to life experiences like going to the summit of the Eiffel Tower. I commit myself to educating my kids on the value of a happy and healthy lifestyle and how it will affect the way they feel and therefore what they will accomplish in life.

Enjoy Local Foods, Eat Wise and ‘Bon Appetit’!

The World Has Changed- Winners Wanted

You may have been informed when you were younger that if you studied hard, went to an excellent school, researched even more, as well as landed a great job, that you  can ultimately  at some point work your way up the ladder to success.
That’s just  simply not exactly how it functions anymore.
Nowadays that old path brings about a mountain of financial obligation  and also job security in a go-nowhere profession. It’s remarkable to see many young people come out of  college these days in debt up to  their eyeballs at a degree that’s so  overwhelming they trade  every one of their hopes and also their dreams in for a bottle of wine and a Netflix subscription.
However, it doesn’t need to be that way.
In spite of all the chaos in the world … what seems like continuous war, corruption, and also debt … this is just one of the most| interesting times to be alive.
The world  isn’t really coming to an end. It’s transforming. The economic system is resetting. Wealth and also power throughout the globe are changing.
Billions of individuals are rising into the Middle Class. Digital Technology is basically transforming the way we organize ourselves as a society  as well as participate in commerce.
Today, borders, college levels, and the conventional profession path are significantly lapsing and also  pointless, which is an advantage.
You can earn a living and spend time anywhere in the world today, thanks to modern communications and cheap transportation. The entire world is now open and available to you.
And there’s an extraordinary amount of opportunity out there for people who have the courage and skills to take advantage of it.

Wanted: Winners who truly want to change the world.

I’ll be honest with you. I abhor the term “lifestyle design”
There’s an entire generation of young people who have already been sold on the idea that life is just all about travel and leisure.
I see so many people now who want to start a business for the sole purpose of producing enough passive income to finance their travel lifestyle
What ever happened to the desire of changing the world? If your aspirations don’t extend beyond your surfboard, this camp is not for you.
We are looking for ass kickers, not tree sloths. We want to teach students who have the drive to create and do amazing things that really count.
Your instructors walk that walk. We want to find and invest in the next generation of doers, and equip you with rocket-propelled knowledge and contacts to jump start your next project, business, or career.

Learn the critical skills you need to create value in a world full of opportunity.

It doesn’t matter what you do… whether you have a job or start a business. Whether you are a musician or venture capitalist. Whether you come from a developed country or developing one
Your success in life will ultimately boil down to how much value you can create.
Unfortunately, life doesn’t come with an instruction book. And university educations are often devoid of practical advice to help you figure out what skills you need to solve the big problems.

Characteristics of Wealth #2- Removing the Clutter

Before I get going, I want you to think about these few questions - Rhonda Swan

    1. Look at the 5 people you hang around and divide by 5. That will likely be your total income.
    2. Think about what you put into your mind. Negative or positive thoughts?
    3. Who do you surround yourself with?
    4. Listen to the words that are coming out of your mouth. What are they?
    5. Take inventory of what is around you and start your wealth creation.

What Clutter is in Your Life?

Ok, I had you work through those questions because we need to start somewhere. You need to take a real inventory of the influences in your life.
Are you surrounding yourself with people that are motivated and passionate about life? Do those around you speak encouragement to you or discourage you from pursuing your dreams?
It is very important that you understand the role of others in your life. Identify the clutter that you are piling around you and then you have to find ways to get rid of it.
Clutter can be anything that is distracting you or keeping you from reaching your goals. This can be negative thoughts that you are holding onto. It can be negative people that pull you down. It might be your circumstances have you in a place where you do not feel the freedom to chase after wealth.

Remove the Clutter

This is a hard step for many people. We don’t want to admit that we are the reason that we aren’t succeeding in life. It is up to us to remove the negativity from our lives. That is hard, since it might mean you have to break relationships.
There might be some personal issues that you need to get over. You might have some deep rooted insecurities that need to be addressed and cleared out.
Whatever it is, I want you to commit to removing the clutter in your life.

Replace the Clutter With Beneficial People and Positive Thinking

Wherever you are right now, is not where you have to stay. However, if you want to pursue wealth, you need to surround yourself with the right people. You need people in your life that are successful in the way that you hope to be.
You also need to put yourself in the right circumstances. Are you in a job that is going nowhere fast? It is time to start working toward finding a way to get away from it. If you are in a toxic job, then you need a new plan.
Another major thing that you need to do is replace your negative thoughts with positive. Stop believing the lies you have fed yourself or others have fed you.

Media And The City Event in New York

Brand It- A New Show Produced By Bonnie Bruderer

Bonnie and I met in Dubai during the Speak in Dubai event. We connected on such a deep level right away. We are like sisters from another mister.
Bonnie hosts the Askbonbon show. I asked her if she would be willing to come on to the Freedom-preneur show. It was awesome to have her on the show.
From these times together, Bonnie and I decided to create the Media in the City Event.
I knew right away that she would provide huge amounts of value to my followers and I started brainstorming with her how we could collaborate.
She came up with this idea of putting together a show called Brand It, based off of the show they have done called Make It. The attendees of the Media and the City Event will be filmed and showcased on this new show.
Here’s a sample of the show, Make It that Bonnie produces.

What The Attendees Will Accomplish at Media in The City

When everyone gets there on August 13, we are hosting a martini meet and greet. We’ll follow that up with a Sex in the City tour so everyone can get excited about being in New York. This tour is one of the most phenomenal brands that speak to women. It is a great example to us as a
On the next two days, we are going to hit the ground running. We will be in the boardroom working on our brands. This time will allow the attendees to get crystal clear on their brand messaging.
Everything that we do is leading up to the day of filming. Bonnie and I will host this show and interview 6 of the attendees at a time. This is their time to shine. They will share their message with the world and what they hope others will learn about their brand.
Since Bonnie is so well connected, she is going to bring in people that are not generally available in this industry. This will give those that come to the event more exposure than most people could hope for.

Each Woman Receives a Segment in the Show

In addition to the group interview, we will give each woman a one-on-one interview. Basically, the spotlight is shined on each person in attendance. This is a time where they will share their journey and hopes for their business.
The show will start airing across Bonnie’s networks in September.

Star For a Day Experience

We want you to have an amazing time while you are in New York. That is why we are going to give you a star for a day experience. Here’s an idea of what it’s like to be a star in the big city.

Do You Want to Have the Spotlight on You?

If you want to attend this event, we would love to have you. Space is very limited and the seats are filling up! Why wouldn’t it? We are giving you the chance of a lifetime. This could be a pivotal moment for you and take you to the next level right away.
